Zelensky Confirms Continued U.S. Military Aid to Ukraine Amid Middle East Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has not disrupted U.S. military assistance to Ukraine. He made this announcement during a recent press briefing.

When asked about potential pauses in U.S. arms deliveries and the current needs of the PURL program, Zelensky responded,

“Regarding U.S. arms supplies, they have not stopped. I am grateful to our partners. We are in contact with negotiators and continue the negotiation process with the United States, including in a trilateral format. Concerning PURL, there is a shortage of air defense systems; they are insufficient,”

he said.

Zelensky also highlighted that a recently signed defense package with Germany strengthens Ukraine’s strategic position, but the delivery timelines necessitate seeking alternative sources to address tactical gaps. He emphasized the critical importance of U.S. support through the PURL initiative.

He expressed gratitude to all nations contributing to the funding of this program, stating,

“As for the air defense system, as I mentioned, we are actively working. I would not limit our efforts to just collaborating with Europeans, as they are financing this project. The question is whether we will work with European countries that have strong companies, such as Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands. We also intend to discuss this matter with Sweden, which I plan to do shortly. So, hopefully, we will succeed,”

the president noted.

The situation continues to evolve.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that U.S. military aid to Ukraine remains uninterrupted despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing Ukraine's defense needs, particularly through the PURL initiative.
