Wimbledon 2026 to Feature Record Prize Money of €74 Million

The Wimbledon Championships in 2026 will offer a historic prize fund of €74 million, as announced by the tournament organizers. This amount represents a 20% increase from the previous year, reflecting a commitment to enhancing financial rewards for players at all levels.

Scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 12, 2026, Wimbledon aims to ensure equitable distribution of prize money among competitors. The tournament has maintained a policy of equal pay for male and female players, a practice that underscores its dedication to fairness.

Winners of both the men’s and women’s singles tournaments will receive €4.1 million, while the runners-up will earn €2 million. Players reaching the main draw of the singles competition will receive approximately €92,000, a significant increase from €76,000 in 2025. Additionally, the qualification prize fund will rise by 25% to around €7.6 million.

Prize Money Breakdown for Wimbledon 2026 Singles Tournaments:

  • Winner: £3.6 million (€4.1 million)
  • Runner-up: £1.8 million (€2 million)
  • Semi-finalist: £900,000 (€1 million)
  • Quarter-finalist: £480,000 (€555,000)
  • Fourth Round: £300,000 (€347,000)
  • Third Round: £185,000 (€214,000)
  • Second Round: £126,000 (€146,000)
  • First Round: £80,000 (€92,000)

This increase in prize money comes amid rising dissatisfaction among top players, who have been vocal about their desire for a larger share of revenue from Grand Slam events. Concerns have also been raised regarding the demanding tournament schedule, late match finishes, and perceived shortcomings in communication from organizers.

Debbie Jevans, chair of the All England Club, emphasized that the current prize distribution model is deemed fair despite the pressures from players. She stated, “Using [revenue] information to determine prize money makes no sense. Revenue does not account for the investments we make. We are a non-profit organization and differ significantly from the Masters 1000 events. I believe what we have done [in increasing the prize fund] is correct and appropriate, and I hope players will endorse it. This is a substantial sum of money,” as reported by Reuters.

In addition to the financial enhancements, this year’s tournament will see infrastructure improvements for players, including renovations to the Millennium building, expansion of training areas, upgrades to medical and physiotherapy facilities, the opening of a new recovery room, and enhancements to the bar area.

Wimbledon 2026 will feature a record prize fund of €74 million, marking a significant increase in payouts for players. The tournament aims to address player concerns regarding revenue distribution while maintaining a commitment to equal pay for men and women.
