Ukraine Intercepts Majority of Russian Drones in Overnight Attack

In the early hours of June 12, Ukraine’s air defense forces successfully intercepted a significant number of Russian drones during an overnight assault. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a total of 117 drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas, were launched against various targets across the country.

The Ukrainian military reported that 102 of these drones were neutralized through a coordinated defense effort involving aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare divisions, and mobile fire groups. This operation reflects the ongoing commitment of Ukraine’s defense forces to safeguard its airspace.

As of 8:00 AM, preliminary assessments indicated that the air defense had effectively downed or suppressed 102 hostile drones. The military’s statement noted that the attack resulted in 14 drones striking seven different locations, with debris from the drones falling in eight areas.

Despite the successful interception of most drones, the air assault continued, with several unmanned aerial vehicles remaining in the Ukrainian sky. The situation underscored the persistent threat posed by aerial attacks as part of the ongoing conflict.
