Ukrzaliznytsia Employee Suspended Amid Corruption Allegations

The Ukrainian state railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, has suspended an employee suspected of soliciting a bribe from a business owner in exchange for assistance in securing land releases. The company has initiated an internal investigation while cooperating with law enforcement agencies.

According to an official statement from Ukrzaliznytsia, the company is fully supporting the investigations conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) and the National Police. They have assured that all requested documentation has been promptly submitted, and their corporate security service is in constant communication with investigators to clarify the circumstances surrounding the case.

“If any other employees are found to be compromised, we will fully assist in identifying them. We are launching our own internal review regarding these allegations. The employee has been immediately suspended from their duties. Should there be indications that the official acted in collusion with others, all involved parties will be promptly suspended, and all materials will be forwarded to law enforcement agencies,”

the statement read.

Ukrzaliznytsia has urged its clients, suppliers, partners, and the public to report any instances where individuals claiming to represent the company offer services for “assistance” or “expedited” processes. The company has established a hotline for reporting such corruption attempts at 0 800 503 222, promising immediate responses to any alerts.

This development follows the recent arrest of Oleksii Obrizan, the deputy head of the Department of Environmental Safety at Ukrzaliznytsia, who is suspected of demanding bribes.

Ukrzaliznytsia has suspended an employee amid allegations of bribery, while cooperating with law enforcement in an ongoing investigation. The company has launched its own internal review and encourages reporting of any corruption attempts.
