On the night of April 26, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) conducted a special operation in occupied Crimea, targeting the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s naval base in Sevastopol and the Belbek military airfield.
According to the SBU, drone strikes resulted in damage to several significant military assets, including:
- The large landing ship “Yamal”;
- The large landing ship “Filchenkov”;
- The reconnaissance ship “Ivan Khurs”;
- The training center “Lukomka”;
- The command center for radio technical reconnaissance of air defense forces;
- The radar system MR-10M1 “Mys-M1”;
- A MiG-31 aircraft at the Belbek airfield;
- The technical maintenance section of the Belbek airfield.
Acting SBU head Yevheniy Khmara stated, “This work will continue until Russia ceases its aggression against our state.” This operation follows previous reports from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, which indicated that two large Russian landing ships were struck on the night of April 18-19.
Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, various sites within Russia have been subjected to aerial attacks, with oil refineries frequently targeted in 2024 and 2025. Additionally, Russian assets in occupied Ukrainian territories have also been under fire.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed most of these attacks, asserting that Ukrainian defense forces are systematically implementing measures aimed at diminishing the combat capabilities of Russian occupation forces and compelling Russia to halt its armed aggression against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Security Service has intensified its operations against Russian military assets in Crimea, targeting key naval and air facilities. This reflects ongoing efforts to undermine Russian military capabilities amid the ongoing conflict.
