The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained military personnel from a local recruitment and social support center in Odesa on April 21, 2026. The Odesa regional recruitment center confirmed the information, although the SBU has not yet provided any official comments.
According to sources within the SBU, eight individuals from the Peresyp recruitment center and one district officer were apprehended. Reports indicate that these personnel were allegedly demanding a bribe of $50,000. No casualties or injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
Images from the scene show the detained individuals lying face down on the grass. The specific reasons and circumstances surrounding the detentions have not been publicly disclosed. The leadership of the regional recruitment center has been dispatched to the site to gather further details.
“Additional information will be provided following official clarification,” stated a representative from the recruitment center.
News of the detentions surfaced earlier today on local Telegram channels, which suggested that the arrests occurred on Balka Street and involved a chase and gunfire.
