Ukrainian President Proposes Freezing Frontline to Facilitate Diplomacy with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his willingness to consider freezing the frontline with Russia to stabilize the situation and shift towards diplomatic negotiations. In an interview with Sky News, he discussed the potential conditions for a ceasefire.

Zelensky stated, “Yes, this is the quickest way. Of course, I do not want to simply freeze the conflict. We want to live in Ukraine. We aim not just to stop the war but to do so in a manner that prevents its resurgence due to the whims of irrational individuals after another pause. Therefore, it is not merely about freezing the situation. The quickest path is to stabilize it, move to diplomatic discussions, and proceed to negotiations.”

When asked if this approach would mean conceding to Russian demands, Zelensky firmly disagreed. He emphasized, “No, it is not just about giving in. Remaining where we are means providing the people of Ukraine with more opportunities to save their children and allowing soldiers to return home. I believe this is crucial for us.”
