Ukrainian President Discusses Military and Energy Support with Nordic Leaders

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo in Yerevan to discuss military assistance and energy cooperation.

Zelensky announced the discussions via Telegram, highlighting the partnership between the countries, which included topics such as the Drone Deal and efforts to enhance air defense capabilities. He emphasized collaboration at both private and public sector levels.

“We paid special attention to energy support for Ukraine. I informed them of our needs, particularly regarding natural gas for the upcoming winter. Ukraine must be prepared for it. I am grateful to Norway and personally to Jonas for their willingness to assist,” Zelensky stated.

The President also proposed to Orpo the strengthening of bilateral relations through a formal agreement under the Drone Deal, expressing Ukraine’s readiness to share expertise and support those who have aided Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale invasion.

“We also touched upon international cooperation, particularly our Euro-integration efforts. There is currently a favorable window of opportunity to open negotiation clusters, and Ukraine fully deserves this,” Zelensky added.

Earlier reports indicated that a separate session dedicated to Ukraine would take place during the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, reaffirming the mobilization and ongoing support from allies.

The eighth summit of the European Political Community aims to unite heads of state and government across the continent to address key issues concerning European sovereignty, including security and defense, competitiveness and economic security, as well as democracy and resilience against hybrid threats and information manipulation.

President Zelensky's discussions with Nordic leaders focused on military aid and energy needs for Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation amid ongoing challenges.
