Ukrainian Police Conduct Sweeping Raids on Military Recruitment Officials

The National Police of Ukraine has launched extensive investigations into current and former officials within territorial recruitment centers, executing 40 search operations across 16 regions. Authorities seized vehicles, motorcycles, and cash in both national and foreign currencies during these actions.

Reports indicate that the investigations are linked to allegations of illicit enrichment and false declarations amounting to nearly 92 million hryvnias. One notable case involves the head of the recruitment center in Odesa, who reportedly increased his wealth by over 45 million hryvnias while in office.

“One of the figures involved – the head of the RTC in Odesa – significantly improved his financial situation and acquired assets exceeding 45 million hryvnias during his tenure,” the police stated.

Discrepancies in the declarations of both current and former recruitment center employees were also uncovered. For instance, an assistant to the head of a combined recruitment center failed to declare assets worth 10 million hryvnias, while a former officer from another center neglected to report 6.6 million hryvnias in assets.

During the searches, law enforcement officials confiscated various Tesla vehicles, motorcycles, cash in multiple currencies, and a range of contracts, including one for a non-repayable financial aid of one million hryvnias.

“The documents seized may serve as a basis for legitimizing funds obtained through illegal means. All these facts will be examined within the framework of criminal proceedings,” police officials noted.

Over the course of several days, authorities compiled more than 150 administrative violation reports related to corruption. These violations pertain to breaches of regulations regarding compatibility with other types of activities, non-compliance with financial control requirements, and conflicts of interest.

The National Police emphasized that the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and they are gathering evidence to formally charge those implicated in the cases.

The National Police of Ukraine has initiated a series of investigations into recruitment officials, uncovering significant financial discrepancies and seizing assets. The ongoing probes aim to address corruption within military recruitment centers across the country.
