Russia has not officially disclosed its military losses, with the last reported figure of 5,937 fatalities dating back to September 2022. In May, Russian media outlets Meduza and Mediazona estimated the total Russian military losses at the end of 2025 to be around 352,000, which includes 261,000 confirmed dead and 90,000 classified as missing or deceased under judicial rulings.

British intelligence estimates indicate that nearly 500,000 Russian soldiers have died since the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian government has been reticent about its own casualty figures, with President Volodymyr Zelensky stating that detailed information will be disclosed post-conflict. In February 2026, he mentioned that Ukraine had lost approximately 55,000 soldiers since February 2022, while also acknowledging a significant number of individuals classified as missing.

On January 13, 2025, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi noted a 13% reduction in personnel losses over the previous year, though he did not provide specific figures regarding Ukrainian casualties.

The Ukrainian military has reported staggering Russian losses, estimating over 1.3 million personnel casualties. This includes significant equipment losses as well, while Russia remains silent on its official figures.
