Ukrainian Government Increases Military Salaries Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has announced a new decree aimed at adjusting the salary structure for military personnel and special police forces. This initiative, officially termed as an “experimental project,” will be implemented over the next two years.

Published on June 12, the decree outlines significant financial incentives for those actively participating in combat operations or essential defense activities. A monthly bonus of up to 100,000 hryvnias will be awarded to military personnel engaged in direct combat or defense operations.

Additionally, a one-time reward structure has been established for various combat-related tasks:

  • 170,000 hryvnias for participation in frontline combat operations;
  • 70,000 hryvnias for completing tasks during battles at the level of a company command post.

Further financial incentives include:

  • 20,000 hryvnias per day for reclaiming positions lost to infiltrating Russian forces;
  • 40,000 hryvnias per day for capturing positions along the frontline;
  • 100,000 hryvnias for each Russian soldier captured;
  • 15,000 hryvnias for each Russian soldier killed, contingent upon video evidence.

Moreover, additional rewards will be allocated for specific roles:

  • 50,000 hryvnias for tasks performed at military command centers;
  • Between 15,000 and 30,000 hryvnias for instructional positions within military units;
  • 10,000 hryvnias for other designated roles.

“Military personnel and police officers entitled to multiple forms of additional rewards will receive the higher amount,” the decree states.

The total monthly compensation for any individual service member is capped at 460,000 hryvnias. This policy is effective immediately following its publication.

On the same day, the Ministry of Defense announced the salary increases, with Deputy Minister Mykola Banik confirming that the funding will come from the ministry’s budget.

The Ukrainian government has introduced a new decree to increase military salaries, providing substantial bonuses for combat participation and specific tasks. This initiative aims to enhance financial support for service members amid ongoing conflict.
