In a statement on the social media platform X, Sybiha expressed relief that the President, Vice President, and other attendees were unharmed in the incident. He emphasized that such acts of violence are unjustifiable and have no place in a democratic society.
The shooting took place on the evening of April 25, prompting an immediate evacuation of the venue. According to law enforcement, the assailant has been identified as 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen from Torrance, California. He has since been apprehended, although the motives behind his actions remain unclear.
Following the evacuation, President Trump remarked that he may have been the intended target of the attack. The incident has raised concerns about security at public events involving prominent figures.
