Ukrainian Forces Target Key Russian Facilities in Recent Strikes

Ukrainian defense units conducted significant strikes on critical Russian infrastructure on May 8, 2026, as reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Among the targets was the “Yaroslavsky” oil refinery located in the Yaroslavl region of Russia, where a fire has been confirmed. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.

“This facility is one of the key players in Russia’s oil refining industry, with an annual capacity of approximately 15 million tons. Its products—gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel—are crucial for the logistics of the enemy’s army,” stated the General Staff.

Additionally, Ukrainian forces struck a drone storage facility in Rostov-on-Don, which also resulted in a fire. The repercussions of this attack are currently being evaluated.

Ukrainian defense forces have targeted significant Russian infrastructure, including an oil refinery and a drone storage facility, resulting in fires at both sites. The attacks highlight ongoing military tensions and strategic operations in the region.
