The Third Army Corps of Ukraine has announced that it has established drone control over portions of the Luhansk region, a territory currently occupied by Russian forces. This declaration follows a series of drone strikes targeting Russian military logistics in the area.
According to the announcement, drone operators from the battalion successfully struck military equipment and ammunition depots belonging to Russian troops. The operations reportedly reached the Izvaryne checkpoint, situated more than 205 kilometers deep into the occupied territory and near the Russian border.
Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky, commander of the Third Army Corps, stated, “In response to enemy claims of complete control over the Luhansk region, we are initiating operations to secure logistics routes in Luhansk and Eastern Slobozhanshchyna. Cities including Luhansk, Starobilsk, Alchevsk, Bryanka, and Kadiivka are now under the surveillance of our drones.”
However, due to ongoing combat operations, independent verification of these claims by Radio Free Europe is not currently possible. Russian military leadership frequently asserts complete control over the Luhansk region, a claim that Ukrainian defense forces contest.
