Ukrainian high jumper Iryna Herashchenko secured a silver medal at the Continental Tour event held in Warsaw. She achieved a height of 1.92 meters, finishing behind Poland’s Maria Zhodzik, who cleared 1.96 meters.
Herashchenko started the competition strongly, successfully clearing the first seven heights on her initial attempts, maintaining a competitive edge alongside Zhodzik. The turning point came at 1.94 meters, where Herashchenko failed to clear the height on her first attempt, giving Zhodzik an advantage in the number of attempts used.
Opting to skip her remaining two attempts at 1.94 meters, Herashchenko moved directly to 1.96 meters. However, after a failed first attempt at 1.94 meters, she was limited to just two attempts at the higher height, both of which she was unable to clear. Meanwhile, Zhodzik’s successful jump at 1.94 meters assured her victory in the event, leaving Herashchenko with the silver medal.
