Ukrainian Air Defense Neutralizes Over 57,000 Aerial Targets in May 2026

In May 2026, Ukraine’s air defense forces reported the destruction of more than 57,000 aerial targets, including missiles and drones deployed by Russia. This information was disclosed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on June 2.

The breakdown of the intercepted threats includes:

  • 2 air-launched ballistic missiles of the Kinzhal type;
  • 50 cruise missiles of the Kh-101 type;
  • 10 ballistic missiles from the Iskander-M/KN-23 systems;
  • 11 Kalibr cruise missiles;
  • 14 guided aviation missiles of the Kh-59/69 types;
  • 24 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
  • 5,053 strike drones of the Shahed type;
  • 1,316 reconnaissance drones;
  • 50,894 drones of various other types.

Throughout May, the Air Force conducted a total of 1,089 flight missions, which included:

  • over 700 missions for fighter aircraft cover;
  • approximately 230 missions for fire support and aerial assistance to Ukrainian ground forces.

In April, the Ukrainian military reported the destruction of 57,129 aerial targets, which encompassed 93 missiles, 4,861 Shahed strike drones, 1,065 reconnaissance drones, and 51,110 other types of unmanned aerial vehicles. During that month, the Air Force completed 831 flight missions.

In May 2026, Ukraine's air defense forces successfully neutralized a significant number of aerial threats, reflecting ongoing military engagements. The data highlights the scale of aerial assaults faced by Ukraine and the effectiveness of its defense systems.
