Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Major Russian Drone and Missile Attack

In the early hours of April 15, Russian forces launched a significant assault on Ukraine, deploying three Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 324 strike drones, including Shahed models. The Ukrainian Air Force reported these developments.

The missile and drone launches originated from various locations in Russia, including Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied regions of Crimea, specifically from the areas of Hvardiyiske and Chаuda. Approximately 250 of the drones were identified as Shahed types.

Ukrainian defense forces, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups, actively engaged in repelling the aerial attack. By 7:00 AM, preliminary reports indicated that Ukrainian air defense had successfully intercepted or suppressed 309 Russian drones across northern, southern, eastern, and central regions of the country.

However, there were confirmed impacts from ballistic missiles and 13 strike drones at nine different sites, along with debris from downed drones landing in ten locations.

“Several enemy UAVs are present in the airspace. Please adhere to safety protocols,” military officials advised.

A coordinated Russian attack involving ballistic missiles and drones targeted Ukraine early on April 15. Ukrainian air defenses reported significant interceptions, though some missiles and drones still caused damage across multiple locations.
