Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans to send expert missions to Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Romania to assist these nations in countering Russian drone threats. This statement was made during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Kyiv on June 3.
According to Zelensky, Ukrainian specialists will provide consultation on interceptor strategies and share knowledge related to drone countermeasures with military personnel in the four countries. He emphasized the collaborative nature of these efforts, stating, “Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and, I believe, Romania as well. We have agreed, and we will prepare experts. There are dates when our experts will arrive there to share their experience, just as we have done in the Middle East.”
Earlier, Zelensky revealed that he had reached an agreement with Romanian President Nicolae Ciucă to enhance Romania’s air defense capabilities, particularly in light of a recent incident involving a Russian drone crash landing on a building in Galați.
Additionally, the president mentioned that 228 Ukrainian specialists are currently deployed in the Middle East, assisting local air defense forces in combating Iranian strike drones. He noted that Ukraine has received 11 requests for security support from neighboring countries of Iran, European nations, and the United States regarding challenges posed by Iranian “Shahed” drones and similar threats.
Ukraine is preparing to send military experts to Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Romania to bolster defenses against Russian drones. This initiative follows recent incidents and reflects Ukraine's ongoing commitment to regional security cooperation.
