The Ukrainian government has received €236 million through the World Bank’s PEACE in Ukraine project, aimed at financing essential social expenditures and pensions. This announcement was made by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko via Telegram on June 10.
Svyrydenko noted that the funds were provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) under a guarantee from the Swedish government. She emphasized that the PEACE in Ukraine initiative was launched four years ago to support the country’s budget amid ongoing conflict.
With the latest disbursement, the total funding under this program has reached $53.5 billion, according to the Prime Minister. On May 29, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko and Kevin Tomlinson, the World Bank’s operational manager for Eastern European countries, signed the agreement for this loan.
