Ukraine Intercepts Majority of Russian Drone Attack on May 20

On May 20, Ukraine faced a significant aerial assault from Russia, involving 84 drones, including Shahed and other types. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully neutralized 75 of these drones during the attack, which lasted from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the defense against the aerial incursion was conducted using a combination of aviation, surface-to-air missile systems, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups. This multi-faceted approach allowed for a robust response to the threat.

According to preliminary data released by the Ukrainian Air Force, by 5:00 PM, the defense had intercepted and destroyed 75 hostile drones across various regions, including the east, north, and south of the country. The report also noted that six drones had managed to strike their targets.

Despite the high interception rate, the Ukrainian Air Force indicated that the attack was ongoing, with several Russian drones still active in the airspace. This highlights the persistent threat posed by aerial assaults in the ongoing conflict.
