Ukraine Faces Extensive Drone and Missile Attacks from Russia

On the evening of April 29, Russian forces launched a significant assault on Ukraine, employing a ballistic missile and over 200 drones. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 172 of these drones were intercepted, although some managed to hit their targets.

According to the Air Force’s update at 8:00 AM, the defense systems successfully neutralized 172 hostile drones across various regions, including the north, south, west, and east of the country. However, the attack also resulted in confirmed strikes from a ballistic missile and 32 drones at 22 different locations, with debris from the intercepted drones falling in nine areas.

The missile was reportedly fired from Russia’s Rostov region, while the drones were launched from several Russian cities, including Kursk, Bryansk, and others, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimea. Notably, more than 140 of the drones were of the Shahed type, known for their offensive capabilities.

The Ukrainian defense employed a combination of aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups to counter the assault. As of the morning, the attack was still ongoing, with several Russian drones remaining in the airspace.

The recent Russian attack on Ukraine involved a mix of ballistic missiles and drones, with significant interception efforts by Ukrainian defense forces. Despite these efforts, some strikes were successful, highlighting ongoing tensions in the region.
