Ukraine Eases Customs Procedures for Defense Sector Imports

The Ukrainian government has simplified the process for defense enterprises to confirm their eligibility for customs privileges when importing components for weapon production. This change, announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, applies to materials, parts, equipment, and related products.

During discussions with parliamentary factions on May 21, Svyrydenko stated that defense industry companies will no longer be required to submit copies of contracts, technical passports, and other documents to customs in advance.

“Necessary information will now be included in the customs declaration, and documents will be provided upon request from customs authorities. If any documents contain classified information, they can be submitted under confidentiality until the customs declaration is filed,” the Prime Minister explained.

Furthermore, Svyrydenko noted that the streamlined regulations also apply to co-executors and subcontractors involved in state defense procurement contracts.

Currently, over 900 state and private companies are engaged in supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with essential weapons, equipment, and technologies, employing more than 300,000 individuals.

The Ukrainian government has revised customs procedures to facilitate the import of defense components, eliminating the need for advance documentation. This measure aims to streamline operations for over 900 companies supporting the Armed Forces.
