Ukraine Allocates Additional Funds for Urgent Road Repairs

The Ukrainian government has allocated an extra 3.5 billion hryvnias from the state budget’s reserve fund for urgent repairs of local roads across all regions. This announcement was made by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko via Telegram on June 6.

Svyrydenko emphasized that the funds will be directed towards the most critical road sections, highlighting the importance of road safety and accessibility for residents seeking medical services, schools, and other essential facilities. She noted, “For our Defense Forces, this is a matter of evacuation, logistics, and ensuring unit readiness.” The funding will be distributed among all regions and is contingent upon co-financing with local budgets.

On June 2, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba stated that major planned repairs on public roads and state highways in Ukraine have been completed. Since the beginning of 2026, nearly 14 million square meters of road surface have been restored.

In March, Serhiy Sukhomlyn, head of the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure, indicated that approximately 50 billion hryvnias are needed for pothole and current repairs on various road types. Of this amount, 12 to 14 billion hryvnias will be allocated for the restoration of international and national roads, which will be prioritized.

The Ukrainian government has earmarked 3.5 billion hryvnias for urgent local road repairs, emphasizing safety and accessibility. This funding, contingent on local budget co-financing, aims to address critical infrastructure needs across the country.
