The United States is set to significantly ramp up its production of weapons and ammunition to bolster Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression. This announcement was made by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Gheskett, according to reports from local media.
Gheskett stated that the U.S. government is altering its approach to the manufacturing of critical munitions and various types of weaponry, aiming for the defense industry to deliver much larger quantities of supplies.
“We are changing our approach to the production of all these essential munitions so that our companies can provide not just a little more, but significantly more across the full spectrum of capabilities where we can assist Ukraine,” Gheskett remarked.
The Pentagon chief also emphasized the importance of European partners taking on a greater share of the responsibility for supporting Ukraine, noting the positive steps already taken in this regard.
According to Gheskett, Europe has notably increased its financial and military assistance to Ukraine, while Kyiv has shown remarkable efficiency in utilizing the support it has received.
“We want them to be able to defend themselves, and we will find a way to ensure that we can assist them alongside our allies,” the U.S. Secretary of Defense added.
He further mentioned that Washington will continue collaborating with partners to provide Ukraine with the necessary resources for defense and to enhance the capabilities of allies in supporting Kyiv in the long term.
