U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed disapproval of Israel’s recent airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon, stating that such actions should not occur, especially as Washington and Tehran appear close to reaching a peace agreement.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized the importance of restraint from all parties involved, noting that both the U.S. and Iran are nearing a deal that could foster stability in the region, including Lebanon. He urged, “Everyone should hold back.”
“Israel should not conduct further attacks on Lebanese territory, but other parties, including Hezbollah, must also refrain from attacking Israel. This could mark the beginning of a long and beautiful peace—let’s not waste this opportunity,” Trump wrote.
While acknowledging Israel’s right to defend itself against threats, Trump remarked that Hezbollah’s drone launch, which prompted the Israeli military’s response, was minimal and resulted in no casualties. He reiterated that such incidents should not derail the critical peace process.
