Tragic Shooting in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi District Leaves Five Dead

A shooting incident in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv resulted in five fatalities and ten individuals hospitalized. Four hostages were successfully rescued during the police operation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the situation, stating that Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported the neutralization of the assailant who opened fire on civilians. “All circumstances are being investigated. Currently, five people have died. My condolences to the families and loved ones,” he expressed.

As of now, ten individuals are receiving medical attention for injuries sustained during the shooting. Zelensky emphasized the need for a swift investigation, instructing the National Police and Security Service of Ukraine to provide verified information to the public.

The incident unfolded on Saturday when a man began firing at people in the Holosiivskyi district, prompting a police special operation to apprehend him. The shooter was later killed by law enforcement.

Reports identify the shooter as 55-year-old Dmytro Vasylchenkov, a native of Moscow who held Ukrainian citizenship. He had previously lived in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, before moving to Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district.
