In the early hours of June 2, Russian missile strikes targeted Kyiv, leading to at least 28 injuries and one confirmed fatality. The city’s mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, and the head of the Kyiv Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, provided updates on the situation.

Among the injured is a three-year-old child. The strikes caused significant structural damage, particularly in the Podilskyi district, where a nine-story residential building partially collapsed, raising concerns that individuals may be trapped under the debris.

The following areas in Kyiv reported various levels of destruction:

  • In Podilskyi district, a fire ignited in a non-residential area, with debris reportedly falling onto the roof of a nine-story building, resulting in damaged windows and further fires from missile fragments on open land.
  • In Obolon, falling debris caused vehicles to catch fire, alongside additional blazes reported at two locations near a kindergarten.
  • In the Sviatoshynskyi district, debris led to a fire in a non-residential area and damage to a five-story building.
  • In Shevchenkivskyi district, debris impacted a non-residential structure, igniting a fire on the second and third floors. A 24-story residential building was also hit, with fires occurring on the fourth and fifth floors.
  • In the Darnytskyi district, falling debris caused a fire at a gas station and in a non-residential building.
  • In Solomianskyi district, debris fell onto a private residence, and a 15-story apartment building sustained damage to its upper floors. Additionally, fragments believed to be from a missile struck a residential complex, igniting a fire on the seventh and eighth floors of a 24-story building.
  • In Holosiivskyi district, debris caused a fire at a commercial site, with vehicles igniting on open land and a fire reported in a polyclinic building, where the second and third floors were damaged. Fires were also noted in temporary structures and in non-residential areas.

Power outages have been reported in several districts of the city as a result of the strikes.
