Following a series of extensive Russian missile strikes, Ukraine’s national railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, has reported significant delays in train services due to damage to infrastructure. The strikes, which occurred overnight, have necessitated passenger evacuations and have impacted the punctuality of several routes.
Despite the disruptions, long-distance train services between major cities remain operational, including routes to and from Dnipro. However, delays are notable, with some trains experiencing wait times of up to four hours.
The following trains have reported the most significant delays:
- 53/54 Odesa-Dnipro: +3.50 hours
- 75/76 Kryvyi Rih-Kyiv: +3.30 hours
- 21/22 Kharkiv-Lviv: +3.30 hours
- 65/66 Kyiv-Sumy: +3.30 hours
- 7/8 Odesa-Kharkiv: +3 hours
- 39/40 Zaporizhzhia-Solotvyno: +3.40 hours
- 45/46 Kharkiv-Uzhhorod: +3.30 hours
- 21/22 Lviv-Kharkiv: +3.15 hours
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attacks on June 15 involved a combination of 70 missiles and 611 drones, primarily targeting Kyiv, with additional strikes on Dnipro and Kharkiv. Air defense forces successfully intercepted 632 targets, including 50 missiles and 582 drones. However, 20 ballistic missiles and 27 attack drones struck 42 locations, resulting in debris falling across 12 areas.
In Kyiv, local authorities have confirmed that four individuals lost their lives, while 30 others, including two children, sustained injuries due to the strikes. The attacks have ignited fires in multiple districts and caused damage to residential buildings.
This latest wave of assaults follows a statement from Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 12, indicating an intention to escalate military actions against Ukraine.
Ukrainian railway services are facing significant delays due to infrastructure damage from recent Russian missile strikes. The attacks have resulted in casualties and widespread destruction in various regions, particularly Kyiv.
