Russian Strike Hits Residential Area in Dnipro, Casualties Reported

On Sunday, May 3, Russian forces launched an attack on the city of Dnipro, resulting in injuries to several individuals, according to the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanzha.

The strike targeted a residential neighborhood, damaging a dormitory. Hanzha confirmed that people were sheltering in the basement during the attack and that rescue operations were underway.

Initially, it was reported that two individuals were injured, including a 24-year-old man who was hospitalized in moderate condition, and a 37-year-old woman who received on-site medical assistance.

Subsequent updates indicated that the number of injured had risen to eight. Hanzha stated that four of these individuals were hospitalized, including men aged 21 and 24, as well as a 69-year-old woman, all in moderate condition. The health status of a 21-year-old woman was described as satisfactory.

Russian military forces have been consistently targeting Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure with various types of weaponry, including drones, missiles, and multiple rocket launchers.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these attacks as war crimes, asserting that they are deliberate in nature. They emphasize that strikes on essential services and healthcare facilities aim to deprive civilians of electricity, heating, water supply, communication, and medical care, which they argue constitutes genocidal actions.

The Russian government denies that its military is intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure during the ongoing conflict, asserting that it does not aim to harm the civilian population or destroy hospitals, schools, kindergartens, or energy and water supply facilities.

A recent Russian attack on Dnipro has resulted in multiple injuries, with local authorities reporting ongoing rescue efforts. The incident highlights the continued targeting of civilian areas amidst the conflict, raising concerns over potential war crimes.
