Russia Launches Attacks Across Ukraine, Casualties Reported

In a series of overnight strikes, Russia targeted multiple regions in Ukraine, resulting in casualties and significant damage. The attacks affected areas including Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Odesa.

  • In Vilnyansk, Zaporizhzhia, a man, a woman, and two children—a two-year-old boy and a twelve-year-old girl—sustained injuries when a private home was struck, leading to a fire and destruction of the property. The explosion also damaged nearby vehicles and homes, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov.
  • In Konotop, Sumy, a residential building, a city hospital, and a museum were damaged, with at least six individuals reported injured, as stated by regional head Oleg Grygorov.
  • Two fatalities and six injuries were reported in Dnipro due to the Russian attack, with five of the injured requiring hospitalization, three of whom are in serious condition, as confirmed by regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha.
  • In Kharkiv, strikes were recorded in the Holodna Hirka and Novobavarskyi districts, as reported by Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
  • Odesa experienced damage to several residential buildings and vehicles, as well as the complete destruction of a single-story structure due to a drone attack.

Estonia’s Air Defense Intercepts Drone for First Time

Estonian defense officials announced that their air defense forces successfully intercepted a drone that violated the country’s airspace. The drone was shot down over Lake Vyrtsjarv in southern Estonia, with its origin currently under investigation.

“This is the first time we have shot down a drone ourselves,” emphasized Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur.

Pevkur suggested that the drone may have originated from Ukraine, heading towards targets in Russia. This incident is part of a broader trend, as drones linked to Ukraine have previously entered the airspace of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. The Estonian minister stated that these occurrences are related to Russian aggression against Ukraine and not a fault of Kyiv.

No Plans to Lower Mobilization Age or Restrict Young Men’s Travel

Deputy Head of the President’s Office Pavlo Palisa confirmed that there are currently no discussions regarding lowering the mobilization age or imposing travel restrictions for men aged 18 to 24. He noted that any future decisions would depend on the situation at the front.

“Everything will depend on the situation at the front, but at this moment, these issues are not being considered or assessed for risk,” added Palisa.

He also stated that there are no plans for mandatory conscription of women, although he mentioned that the Ministry of Defense is preparing attractive terms for women in the military.

“The program being developed by the Ministry of Defense will have general conditions for both men and women, and the terms for women will be quite appealing,” he noted.

Putin Visits China for Two-Day Meeting

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in China for a two-day visit, where he has already met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The agenda includes the signing of approximately 40 cooperation agreements.

This visit comes shortly after former U.S. President Donald Trump completed his first trip to China in nearly a decade on May 15.

Russia's recent attacks across multiple Ukrainian regions have resulted in casualties and property damage. Meanwhile, Estonia's air defense successfully intercepted a drone, marking a significant development in regional security. Additionally, discussions on mobilization policies and Putin's visit to China highlight ongoing geopolitical tensions.
