Putin Yet to Decide on Easter Ceasefire, Kremlin Spokesperson States

The Kremlin has confirmed that President Vladimir Putin has not made a decision regarding a ceasefire during the upcoming Easter celebrations. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian administration, communicated this stance through the state news agency RIA Novosti.

“Putin has not made any decisions regarding the Easter ceasefire as of today,” Peskov stated.

On March 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed Ukraine’s readiness to establish a ceasefire with Russia for the duration of the Easter holidays. During a press briefing, he addressed concerns about the potential strengthening of Russian positions during a temporary truce, remarking, “In two or three days, they will not be able to reinforce anything. We remember what they promised and what they failed to accomplish in three days.”

Following Zelensky’s comments, Peskov responded on March 31, asserting that the Ukrainian president’s remarks did not constitute a clear proposal for a ceasefire. He further claimed that Russia seeks peace rather than a mere temporary halt to hostilities.

The Kremlin has indicated that President Putin has not yet made a decision on a proposed Easter ceasefire, following statements from Ukrainian President Zelensky about a potential truce. Peskov emphasized that Zelensky's comments lacked clarity and reiterated Russia's desire for lasting peace.
