Authorities in Vinnytsia have uncovered a scheme involving medical professionals who allegedly facilitated military evasion by issuing fraudulent medical documentation. Over 40 searches were conducted at various medical facilities linked to this illicit activity.
During these operations, law enforcement seized more than 2 million UAH in cash, alongside medical records and digital devices containing information pertinent to the doctors’ actions. The investigation has led to the identification of three individuals facing charges.
The accused include the head of the surgical department at a municipal hospital in the Vinnytsia region, who reportedly accepted $1,000 in bribes to provide a patient with necessary documents to obtain a fictitious disability status. Additionally, an orthopedic surgeon from the same hospital is alleged to have operated on a healthy arm of a patient to justify a deferment from military service during mobilization.
Also implicated is the director of a primary healthcare center in the Haisyn district, who allegedly provided three patients with false medical conclusions for 16,000 UAH, claiming they required constant care due to functional impairments.
Investigators are continuing to identify other individuals involved in this criminal activity. They are also examining the doctors’ assets for any signs of illicit acquisition and discrepancies in their financial declarations.
Discussions are underway regarding the imposition of preventive measures for the suspects and their suspension from their current positions.
A recent investigation in Vinnytsia has revealed a network of medical professionals involved in fraudulent practices to aid military evasion. Authorities are pursuing further inquiries into the extent of these activities and the individuals involved.
