Mass Disturbance in Kyiv’s Desnyansky District Leads to Police Intervention

A significant disturbance occurred on Sunday evening in the Desnyansky district of Kyiv, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement. Videos circulating on social media depicted a chaotic scene with a large crowd and multiple vehicles, as tensions escalated in the area.

According to the Kyiv Patrol Police, the incident began when officers spotted a Nissan vehicle violating traffic regulations. The car had its license plates obscured, making identification impossible. When officers signaled for the driver to stop, he fled the scene, driving on the sidewalk and endangering pedestrians.

To apprehend the suspect, police called for backup and managed to block the vehicle. The driver was subsequently arrested using handcuffs. However, as police worked to detain him, a group of individuals approached the scene, attempting to obstruct the officers’ actions.

This group allegedly used tear gas against the police and damaged a patrol car. In response to the attack, officers employed physical force and non-lethal means to disperse the crowd. A forensic team was summoned to investigate the situation further.

The driver faced multiple charges, including violations related to license plate regulations and failing to comply with police orders. Additionally, authorities discovered that he was also in violation of mobilization laws, leading to his transfer to the relevant military recruitment center.

The police have since documented the events in their reports and initiated an investigation into threats or violence against law enforcement personnel.
