In Sakhnovshchyna, a village in Kharkiv Oblast, a group of local residents attacked military personnel from the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRSS) who were conducting notification activities on May 26.
According to the Kharkiv regional police, the incident occurred shortly after the military arrived to fulfill their official duties. A conflict erupted between the soldiers and the local men, leading to threats and physical violence against the TCRSS representatives.
Reports indicate that one assailant used a metal telescopic baton, damaging a service vehicle and injuring the military personnel. Additionally, the attackers deployed a substance that caused irritation and discomfort.
As a result of the assault, the military personnel sustained various degrees of injuries. Law enforcement officials have identified all individuals involved in the incident and have made arrests.
Four suspects have been charged with criminal offenses. The charges include serious violations under the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with one 36-year-old facing multiple counts, including aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. A 29-year-old and a 34-year-old are also among those charged, with potential penalties including imprisonment for up to seven years.
