On March 26, Trump announced a temporary halt to the destruction of Iranian energy facilities until April 6. However, due to a lack of progress in negotiations, he extended the deadline by 20 hours to the evening of April 7.

On April 6, Iran presented the U.S. and Israel with a ten-point plan for ending hostilities through Pakistan. On May 1, the White House informed Congress that the hostilities initiated on February 28 had ceased, although American military presence in the region would continue.
On May 23, Trump reported discussions with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain regarding a memorandum of understanding for peace with Iran, stating that significant progress had been made towards an agreement that included the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
