On May 9, the Ukrainian General Staff reported a significant number of combat engagements despite the announced ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. A total of 147 clashes were documented throughout the day, highlighting ongoing hostilities in various regions.
In the North-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Russian forces conducted 30 shelling operations targeting Ukrainian military positions and civilian areas, including one instance involving multiple rocket launcher systems. Additionally, two assault attempts by Russian troops were recorded.
In the South-Slobozhansky area, the aggressor launched nine attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Prylipka, Izbytske, Starytsia, Ternova, Petro-Ivanivka, Synelnykove, and Novovasylivka.
Further, in the Kupiansk direction, there was one attack aimed at the city of Kupiansk. Meanwhile, in the Lyman sector, Russian forces attempted to breach defenses five times, targeting the towns of Lyman, Zarichne, Yampil, and Ozerny.
In the Sloviansk direction, two assault actions were reported near Riznykivka and towards Rai-Oleksandrivka. The Kramatorsk area saw one attempt to improve positions towards Tykhonivka.
In the Kostyantynivka sector, Russian troops carried out 11 attacks near the settlements of Illinivka, Pleshchiyivka, Rusyn Yar, and towards Kostyantynivka. The Pokrovsk direction witnessed defenders repelling 28 assault attempts targeting various locations including Bilitske, Nikanorivka, Dorožne, Novooleksandrivka, Rodynske, Vasylivka, Udachne, Molodetske, Novomykolaivka, Novopidhorodne, Kotlyne, Hryshyne, and Serhiivka.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian forces executed five attacks towards Oleksandrhrad, Sichneve, Voronoe, and Sosnivka. The Huliaipole sector experienced 27 attacks in areas such as Novo Zaporizhzhia, Rybne, Tsvitkove, Zaliznychnyi, Sviatopetrivka, Charivne, Zlahoda, Olenokostiantynivka, and towards the towns of Hirkе, Huliaipilske, Verkhnya Tersa, Vozdvizhivka, and Staroukrainka.
In light of these developments, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy affirmed his position regarding the ceasefire proposed by U.S. President Joe Biden, indicating a firm response to the situation on the ground.
