Hungary Condemns Russian Drone Attack on Zakarpattia

The newly appointed Prime Minister of Hungary, Péter Mátyás, has expressed strong condemnation of the recent Russian drone assault on Zakarpattia. This statement came during the inaugural meeting of his government, which took place following the attack on May 13.

Mátyás revealed that Foreign Minister Anita Orbán summoned the Russian ambassador to Budapest for a meeting scheduled for May 14 at 11:30 AM, specifically to address the drone strikes in the region.

Hungarian President Tamás Schuyok also denounced the attack, marking it as the largest drone strike on Zakarpattia to date since the onset of the full-scale invasion.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged Mátyás’s remarks as a significant message, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by Moscow not only to Ukraine but also to neighboring countries and Europe as a whole. He emphasized the importance of a united front to halt the ongoing violence.

On May 13, Zakarpattia experienced a significant escalation in drone attacks, with critical infrastructure in several districts being targeted.

Hungary's new Prime Minister condemned the Russian drone attack on Zakarpattia, reflecting a strong stance against aggression. This incident marks a notable escalation in hostilities, prompting diplomatic responses from both Hungary and Ukraine.
