Electricity Consumption Drops in Ukraine Amid Severe Weather and Drone Attacks

Electricity usage in Ukraine has decreased significantly, with forecasts indicating no need for scheduled power outages on Monday, April 27. However, severe weather has left over 700 settlements without power across many regions, compounded by disruptions from Russian drone strikes.

According to Ukrenergo, as of 9:30 AM on April 27, electricity consumption was down by 4.2% compared to the same time on the previous working day, Friday, April 24. The drop in usage is attributed to sunny weather conditions, which have enhanced the efficiency of residential solar power systems, thus reducing reliance on the national grid.

Officials are urging residents to shift their energy consumption to peak solar hours, specifically between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. They also emphasized the importance of conserving electricity during the evening hours, advising against the use of high-power appliances from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Impact of Severe Weather

Widespread outages have been reported due to adverse weather, including strong winds and thunderstorms. Repair crews are actively working to restore power to the affected areas.

Impact of Drone Strikes

Additionally, Russian drone attacks have resulted in power outages for consumers in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kherson regions. Emergency restoration efforts are underway wherever safety conditions permit.

Ukraine is experiencing a notable drop in electricity consumption due to sunny weather and ongoing power outages from severe weather and drone attacks. Authorities are encouraging residents to adjust their energy usage patterns to optimize solar energy benefits.
