Drone Strike in Sumy Results in Injuries and Property Damage

In the early hours of April 21, Russian forces launched a drone attack on the city of Sumy, resulting in multiple explosions and subsequent fires. Reports indicate that up to ten explosions were heard across the city, damaging residential buildings and vehicles, as well as a medical facility.

According to local authorities, four individuals were injured in the attack, including a 17-year-old child, who, along with two adult males, required hospitalization. Another person received medical assistance at the scene, as stated by Sergey Krivosheyenko, the head of the Sumy Military Administration.

“Medical staff continue to provide assistance, primarily addressing acute stress reactions,” Krivosheyenko added.

The drone strikes targeted residential areas, causing significant damage to apartment buildings and cars. Additionally, one drone struck the premises of a healthcare facility, as reported by Oleg Grigoryev, head of the regional military administration.

Secretary of the Sumy City Council, Artem Kobzar, noted that more than five strikes were recorded in a courtyard area in the Zarichny district of Sumy. The situation regarding casualties and fatalities is still being clarified.

The explosions occurred shortly after 01:20 local time, marking a significant incident in the ongoing conflict.
