Russian officials have reported an attempted drone attack on the Tyumen oil refinery on June 20. Alexander Moor, the governor of Tyumen region, shared the information via Telegram, stating that the local air defense successfully intercepted the drones.
Moor indicated that there were no damages to the refinery and that employees had been evacuated as a precaution. “Emergency services are currently working at the site where debris fell. Preliminary information suggests that the plant remains unharmed, and I am personally monitoring the situation,” he stated.
However, the Russian Telegram channel Astra, citing local residents, reported hearing at least two explosions in the Antipino neighborhood, where the refinery is located. Witnesses also noted the presence of at least ten fire trucks heading towards the facility.
The Tyumen region is situated nearly 2,000 kilometers from the front lines in Ukraine. The refinery has an annual processing capacity of between 7.5 and 9 million tons of crude oil.
