On June 19, the Ukrainian General Staff reported 248 combat engagements across various frontlines, with the most significant Russian assaults occurring in the Pokrovsk, Huliaipole, and Kostiantynivka directions.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian forces launched 23 attacks near the settlements of Pleshchiyivka, Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Toretske, and Sofiivka. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled 36 assaults in the Pokrovsk area, particularly around the localities of Novooleksandrivka, Kotlyne, Udačne, Rodynske, Novomykolaivka, and Filia, as well as towards Vasylivka, Bilitske, Dorožne, Shevchenko, Serhiivka, and Novopavlivka. Additionally, 24 attacks were reported in the Huliaipole direction targeting the settlements of Dobropillia, Huliaipole, Hirke, Tsvitkove, and Charivne.
Ongoing hostilities were also noted in the Northern Slobozhansky, Kursk, Southern Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Oleksandrivka, and Orikhiv directions, according to the General Staff.
Data from the DeepState project indicated that May marked the first month since autumn 2023 in which Russian territorial gains were negative, with the aggressor losing more ground than it captured. This trend is corroborated by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which reported that over six months of intense assaults (from December 2025 to May 2026), Russian troops managed to advance only slightly more than 40 square kilometers.
Amid these developments, the situation in Kostiantynivka has sharply deteriorated. The Russian military is advancing on both flanks of the city, which has been designated a “red zone” by the DeepState project as of June 16. This designation indicates that Russian forces have established a foothold on a small section of the southern outskirts of Kostiantynivka, thereby expanding the “gray zone” in and around the city. Ukrainian defenders maintain full control over the northern part and center of Kostiantynivka, with fighting occurring on three sides. The map illustrates this as a “clamp” with distances between the uneven edges measuring less than two kilometers in some areas.
The latest report from the Ukrainian General Staff details ongoing combat across multiple frontlines, highlighting intensified Russian attacks in key areas. Despite these assaults, recent data indicates a shift in territorial control, with Russian forces experiencing losses for the first time in several months.
