Law enforcement authorities in Ukraine have detained the deputy commander of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. The arrest is linked to allegations of extortion involving the transfer of personnel between military units.
The brigade’s official statement, shared on social media, expressed full support for the ongoing investigation. It emphasized the importance of a thorough and impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the case.
In accordance with Ukrainian law, the brigade underscored the principle of presumption of innocence, stating that any conclusions regarding the individual’s guilt can only be drawn after a comprehensive investigation and a court ruling.
The statement urged the public to refrain from disseminating unverified information, rumors, or speculation that could hinder the investigation and negatively impact the reputation of military personnel and the operational capacity of the unit.
Despite the ongoing investigation, the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade continues to maintain its defensive positions in the Kharkiv region and is fulfilling its assigned combat tasks diligently.
Sources indicate that the detained officer is Colonel Maxim Bobrovskiy. However, law enforcement agencies have not provided further comments regarding the arrest.
The command of the Ground Forces has stated that they cannot disclose details of the investigation but assured that they are cooperating with the inquiry and advised waiting for the court’s decision.
