Chinese President Xi Jinping to Visit the United States This Fall

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to travel to the United States this autumn at the invitation of President Donald Trump, as confirmed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a statement to state media.

Wang characterized the upcoming meeting between Xi and Trump as historic, emphasizing the significance of their previous discussions. “This was an important meeting where the leaders of both nations engaged in deep communication and achieved substantial results,” he stated.

The foreign minister highlighted advancements in trade and economic relations, noting that the negotiations had yielded “generally balanced and positive results,” including the continuation of agreements reached in prior consultations.

During their discussions, the two countries addressed agricultural market access and the expansion of trade through mutual tariff reductions. They also agreed to establish a trade and investment council to facilitate ongoing dialogue.

Trump’s visit to Beijing on May 13 included a delegation of over 12 American business leaders, among them notable figures such as Apple CEO Tim Cook, Tesla’s Elon Musk, and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang.

On May 14, Trump met with Xi in Beijing, where they discussed various topics including bilateral trade, the U.S. military’s actions against Iran, and the situation in Taiwan.

Following his visit, Trump announced that China would begin purchasing oil from the United States, a statement that went unaddressed by Chinese officials.

This upcoming visit marks the first state visit by a sitting U.S. president to China in nearly nine years, with Trump’s last trip occurring in November 2017 during his first term.

Chinese President Xi Jinping's planned visit to the U.S. this fall, at the invitation of President Trump, underscores ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations. The meeting follows a series of discussions aimed at resolving trade tensions and fostering cooperation.
