Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a warning to Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, stating that he has one week to remove military equipment from regions bordering Ukraine. This statement comes amid ongoing tensions related to the conflict in Ukraine.
During a media briefing, Zelensky addressed Lukashenko’s recent apologies, emphasizing that while personal words may be forgiven, the actions that threaten Ukraine are what truly matter. He remarked, “If there is an offense against my country, we will take it seriously and not forget it. But if these are personal matters, then let’s move on, as long as he acknowledges the situation.”
Zelensky recalled that at the onset of the full-scale war, numerous missiles were launched from Belarus, and Lukashenko had previously expressed regret, claiming he did not have control over those actions. He noted, “Now, Russia is continuing to push him into this war. He understands that Ukraine will respond. There is no need for unnecessary words.”
The Ukrainian president highlighted that Belarusian territory is currently hosting military equipment that is being used to direct fire upon Ukrainian civilians. He stated, “What is the point of saying he does not want to be involved in the war? He should remove this equipment. He has a week to do it, as every day it results in civilian casualties, including injured children. If he does not act, we will take matters into our own hands.”
Additionally, Zelensky commented on the oil refining industry, asserting that Ukraine is working diligently to limit Russia’s ability to sell oil and supply its military. He pointed out that Lukashenko is a significant supplier of resources to the Russian army and expressed confidence that he has the power to halt this support.
Earlier, Zelensky had indicated that the Kremlin is exploring various options for escalating the conflict, including the potential use of Belarusian territory. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has confirmed that the entire 1,085-kilometer Ukrainian-Belarusian border is under constant surveillance, with ongoing efforts to strengthen its defenses.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Belarus to withdraw military equipment from its border regions within a week, emphasizing the ongoing threat to Ukrainian civilians. He also highlighted the importance of addressing Belarus's role in supplying resources to Russia amid the ongoing conflict.
