Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are currently conducting investigative actions involving Andriy Yermak, the former head of the President’s Office. Sources have disclosed this information to journalists from the Ukrainian publication Ukrainska Pravda.
Additionally, RBC-Ukraine has confirmed these investigations, although neither outlet has specified the reasons behind the actions. Yermak was previously subjected to searches in November of last year as part of the high-profile “Midas” case, which ultimately led to his dismissal from his position.
Updated 22:00: The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) have informed Yermak of suspicions related to potential money laundering in connection with the construction of the luxury cottage community “Dynasty.”
Updated 22:30: NABU has provided further details regarding the case against Yermak. More information can be found in a separate report by RBC-Ukraine.
The “Midas” case involves allegations of corruption within the state enterprise Energoatom. Investigators claim that a criminal group demanded kickbacks ranging from 10% to 15% of contract values from Energoatom’s contractors.
Key figures in this investigation include businessman Timur Mindich, former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, ex-advisor to the Minister of Energy Ihor Mironyuk, and businessman Oleksandr Tsukerman. The illicit funds were reportedly laundered through back-office operations.
Amid this high-profile investigation, rumors circulated suggesting that Yermak might be implicated, particularly in light of the so-called “Mindich tapes” released by NABU, where he was initially referred to by the alias “Ali Baba.” However, in March of this year, the lead investigator in the “Midas” case, Oleksandr Abakumov, clarified that Yermak’s actual alias is “Surgeon.”
Former head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak is under investigation by Ukrainian authorities for potential money laundering linked to a luxury housing project. This follows previous allegations related to the high-profile "Midas" case involving corruption within Energoatom.
