The security threat level posed by Russia to Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities remains unchanged from previous months, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry. The ministry has characterized recent Russian threats as blatant intimidation tactics.
Officials in Kyiv assert that Moscow’s missile strikes are intended to instill fear among foreign diplomats, which they believe could serve as critical evidence in international legal proceedings against Russia.
In response to these threats, the Foreign Ministry has expressed readiness to enhance security for foreign diplomatic missions that have been warned by the Kremlin of potential escalated attacks on Kyiv. “To counter Russian intimidation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is prepared to assist in bolstering the security of foreign embassies that request such support,” the ministry stated.
Furthermore, the ministry reminded Ukraine’s allies that the most effective response to Russian threats is to increase pressure on the aggressor and support Kyiv, particularly in strengthening air defense capabilities.
“Moscow must receive clear and unified signals from the international community: unity, strength, and principle,” the Foreign Ministry added.
Recently, Russia warned several countries’ diplomatic missions about a supposed increase in attacks on Kyiv. However, many observers urge caution, suggesting that these threats may carry hidden meanings and reflect the true intentions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted that the real goal behind Russia’s claims of intensified attacks is to pressure Kyiv into making concessions to the aggressor. Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War have echoed this sentiment, asserting that these threats are a reaction to Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, particularly in the oil refining sector.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has condemned recent Russian threats as intimidation tactics aimed at foreign diplomats. The ministry is prepared to bolster security for embassies while urging international unity against Moscow's aggression.
