U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has voiced apprehensions regarding escalating tensions in the Baltic region following new allegations from Russia.
While addressing reporters, Rubio was asked to comment on Russia’s claims that the Baltic nations are allegedly preparing drone attacks in collaboration with Ukraine against Russian territory. In response, he indicated that such assertions raise concerns about the potential for further escalation.
“There are always fears that something like this could escalate into something larger,” Rubio stated.
Rubio emphasized that the Baltic states have valid reasons to feel threatened by Russia’s actions, and he confirmed that the U.S. is closely monitoring the situation. He also mentioned ongoing cooperation with NATO regarding these developments.
“We do not want this to lead to something much worse,” the Secretary of State underscored.
