Trump Signals Potential Military Action Against Iran Amid Diplomatic Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the United States is prepared to escalate military actions against Iran unless a peaceful agreement is reached. However, he expressed a willingness to wait a few days for what he termed “the right answers” from Tehran.

Speaking to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base, Trump described the current situation as “on the brink” and warned that it could deteriorate rapidly. He stated, “Believe me, if we don’t get the right answers, this will end very quickly. We are all ready to go to work.” When pressed on how long he would wait, Trump suggested that it could take a few days but also noted that developments could unfold swiftly.

In response, Iranian officials cautioned the U.S. against resuming attacks. A statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that renewed aggression would lead to a regional conflict that could extend beyond the area.

Iran has also established a new “Persian Gulf Command” to oversee maritime traffic in the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. Trump reiterated his commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, asserting, “We are at the final stages of Iran’s development. We will see what happens. Either we will reach an agreement, or we will take some actions that may be a bit unpleasant, but hopefully, it won’t come to that.” He added, “Ideally, I would like to see as few people die as possible, rather than many. We can do this in any case.”

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed support for Trump, endorsing the continuation of the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. Erdoğan conveyed to Trump that he believes a “smart solution” is achievable.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf claimed in an audio message on social media that the “obvious and hidden actions of the enemy” indicate that the U.S. is preparing for new attacks. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran remains open to negotiations but emphasized in a post on X that “forcing Iran to capitulate through coercion is nothing more than an illusion.”

President Trump has communicated a readiness to intensify military actions against Iran if diplomatic efforts fail, while Iranian officials warn of severe consequences. The situation remains tense as both sides navigate potential negotiations amidst escalating rhetoric.
