Armenia is set to conduct international military exercises named Eagle Partner 2026 from June 17 to June 25, aimed at enhancing preparedness for peacekeeping missions. The Armenian Ministry of Defense announced the event via Telegram.
Approximately 250 personnel from Armenia’s peacekeeping brigade will participate in the exercises, alongside military representatives from various partner nations. These include 58 troops from the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa, as well as the Kansas National Guard, 24 members from the French Armed Forces, and 11 from Greece.
The primary objective of the exercises is to improve interoperability among units during international peacekeeping operations. Participants will engage in tasks related to command, tactical communication, and experience sharing.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense noted that Armenian units regularly take part in similar joint training activities with partner countries.
In recent months, Armenia has been reassessing its security ties with Russia, including its involvement in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), while simultaneously expanding defense cooperation with Western nations, particularly the United States and France. Last year, joint Armenian-American exercises under the Eagle Partner banner faced significant criticism from the Kremlin.
Armenia will host the Eagle Partner 2026 military exercises in June, involving troops from several nations. The event reflects Armenia's shifting defense partnerships amid changing regional dynamics.
