Taxi users in Ukraine are increasingly encountering GPS inaccuracies due to the heightened use of electronic warfare systems. These disruptions can lead to incorrect location readings for both passengers and drivers.
Serhiy Pavlyk, the General Manager of Bolt in Ukraine, addressed the issue in an interview, explaining that users can manually adjust their pickup points within the app. By simply moving the location marker on the map, passengers can specify the correct spot for their ride.
“In the app, you can always manually set the pickup point—just move the marker on the map. It takes a few seconds and resolves the issue,” Pavlyk stated.
Importantly, Bolt has emphasized that these GPS malfunctions do not affect the fare calculation algorithm. If the pickup point is accurately indicated, the fare is determined using the standard pricing mechanism without any additional surcharges or adjustments.
The company acknowledges that GPS disruptions due to electronic warfare represent a new challenge for urban logistics amid ongoing conflict. Despite these difficulties, passengers can still request rides even when navigation systems are not functioning correctly.
